Japanese ski resort Niseko added to Epic Pass – Telegraph.co.uk

Vail claims a season-long Epic Pass pays for itself “in just over five days of
skiing and riding”. However, those figures do not quite stand up when
compared to some of Europe’s single area lift passes. At today’s exchange
rate, the Epic Pass costs £438 compared to a six-day Les Trois Vallées pass
costing £227 (€283) and a six-day pass for the Espace Killy, which covers
Tignes and Val d’Isère, costing £208 (€260). The Zillertaler Superpass
covering Mayrhofen in Austria
costs £184 (€230.50).

The Epic Pass can provide exceptional value for those who live near resorts in
North America or are able to travel more than a week or two a season and can
afford the price of long haul flights to North America and Japan.

Thai’s have taken to Japan year-round like bees to honey. With the national carrier championing direct flights between Bangkok and Sapporo, popularity is rising. Photo: Glen

PHUKET: Mist is covering Mount Yotei like a soft white blanket as I sit in the train station waiting for the 15:15 local to Otaru. Despite being school holidays, and prime-time summer, the weather is decidedly wet. Travel by railway in the country is always one of my guilty pleasures despite this being a business trip.

Sitting at the North Eastern end of Japan, Hokkaido with its stunning peaks and laid back charm is one of Asia’s great escapes. Over the past few years I’ve been a frequent traveller to Niseko and the mountain resort areas.

My mind wanders as … Read More »
